Progress Update | Hitting the halfway mark as we approach the Lab’s Launch!
93 partners have now joined the National Conversation Development Lab! Whether as a core partner or through the expert network, these are organisations and individuals who believe in this idea and want to help us bring it to life. This project is only as strong as the collaboration behind it, and that collaboration is growing.
We are now halfway through the three-month window we set for governance design, relationship building, and process development before our full June launch. It has been a busy and productive stretch.
On governance: we have a working model. After consulting with community leaders and experts, we are now going back to those same communities with the draft design to test whether it reflects their input and meets their expectations. We are also working to fill the seats of the Lab’s Governance Council. Seven of the eight are tentatively held, and we are taking care with the final appointment. Getting the balance right matters, and we are grateful to the many people in our network who are making introductions and recommendations to help us get there.
On process design: a working group of Lab partners met for the first time a week ago to get into the details with us. Their feedback is already being integrated, and we will share the updated design back with them shortly. If you are a Core partner who has not yet joined that group, we would love to have you involved!
On relationship building: Broadening the network of individuals and organisations within the Lab has been a big priority for us over the last few months. We are full steam ahead on continuing to build these relationships, and welcome any introductions or recommendations for whom you think should be involved in this initiative.
The next six weeks are focused on finalising the governance structure, locking in the design of the sessions themselves, and continuing to build the relationships that will carry this work forward.
